head
and

the
centuries
mother
nature
swallowed
the
sacred
stone.

sculptures
off

temples

smuggle
them
out
of
the
country.

during
the

colonial
occupation

Cambodia
hundreds
of
beautiful
and
very
valuable
Buddha
figures
and
other
antique
artifacts
were
stolen
by
French
people.
It
is
necessary
to
indicate
that
also
the
lunatic Pol
Pot
was
educated
in
France
and
obviously
got
his
mad
ideas
there.
Even
today
people
do
this
on a
smaller
scale
since
most
of
the
temples
and
monuments
are
not
guarded.

Angkor

artifacts

looters

digging.

stone

on

priceless
carvings
are
cut
and
smuggled
out

The
Khmer
ancient
treasures usually in form of Buddha statues and relief are still in great demand and there are art dealers and collectors who are willing to pay a high price for Hindu and Buddhist art. |
